August 15, Thurs. - Welcome to Ms. Sanders' ENG 3 class! SWBAT get an initial experience working with the important Common Core domains of Speaking, Listening, and Writing in my classroom by sharing some things about themselves both orally and in writing. (CCSS.SL.11-12.1 and 4)
Fill out note cards on your desks about yourself. Follow the instructions for filling out correctly. Use sample questions as a guide for what to write about yourself in order to help me get to know your better.
On a sheet of paper, begin a running list of "English Teacher No-No's" you've encountered. One paper per group. I will call on names randomly and each will share until no more. Listen so you do not repeat someone else.
Begin "JOY" activity. (10 mins) [MLA heading in top left corner]
J = something that JUST happened O = ONE thing you would like to do for yourself Y = something that makes you YOU 2. Students present (8 mins) - Partner share - Keep this sheet of paper, bring it back tomorrow.
